Custom Norvell Airbrush Tan

Norvell® products are formulated to prevent any orange undertones and include

Ordenone® to neutralize the DHA scents.

- With proper maintenance, clients can expect 5-7 days of gorgeous “just off the beach”

color, with peak color lasting 3-4 days.

Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate.

- We cannot over-stress the importance of pre-session exfoliation. 24 hours prior to your

appointment, clear away any dry, dead skin cells with a pH-balancing scrub. Avoid using

bar soaps, high pH shower products, or in-shower moisturizers. These products can

neutralize the DHA bronzing reaction with the skin.

- Hair removal – any depilatory creams, waxing, or shaving should be completed 24 hours before

prior to appointment.

- Do not wear any existing self-tanner or residue from a former spray tan on the skin.

- Do not use lotion, oil-based exfoliating products, gels, or waxing/shaving creams on the

day of the appointment. These can leave a film and change the pH of the skin.

If you really need to take a shower before the appointment, take it 3 hours prior to the

session and rinse only with warm water. The steam can open the pores.

- Manicures, pedicures, facials, and massages should be done days before the

appointment.

- Arrive prepared. Don’t create sunless barriers.

- Avoid applying anything to the skin that may act as a barrier between the sunless

solution and the skin. Deep penetration of the solution is key to radiant, lasting color. Do

not apply lotions, creams, sunscreens, oils, deodorant or perfumes prior to your

session.

- Remove makeup prior to the sunless application. If your skin is sweaty, make sure to

dry it prior to the application.

- The application can be done with or without you wearing undergarments or a bathing

suit. Disposable underwear is available by request.

- Wear loose-fitting, dark-colored clothing and remove jewelry. Tight clothing can rub

against the tan and remove or smear bronzers, especially around the knees, elbows,

chest and waist.

- The day of the session, you should go to bed wearing long, loose clothes to prevent the

bronzer from getting on your sheets. Protect your pillow with a towel or use dark-colored

sheets.

- Avoid moisture – rain, sweat, swimming, spas, etc., while the tan dries. Avoid hanging

bag straps on arms and seat belts across shoulders.

- You should refrain from showering as long as possible (up to 24 hours). As with all DHA

products, sunless color begins showing development approximately 2-4 hours after

application and continues to darken for up to 24 hours. If you must shower within the

first 24 hours following the application, please use a WARM WATER RINSE ONLY.

- The use of soap can inhibit the full development of DHA color. IMPORTANT: Cosmetic

bronzers will wash away during the first shower following application. Pools and spas

that utilize chlorine can cause fading.

- Do not apply lotion, cream, makeup or perfume on the skin during the development

period.

- If you accidentally touch your skin during the development, clean your fingers or inner

hands with a wet and soapy cloth while being careful to avoid wetting the rest of the

hand.

- If your tan accidentally comes into contact with liquids during the development, you can

apply a fine layer of self-tanning lotion on the specific area and rub the lotion around the

affected area, then blend in the remaining bronzer with the self-tanning lotion. After the

first shower, the result should look even.

- Avoid body washes, lotions, sunscreens with alcohol, parabens, mineral or petroleum

oil, or sulfates. Do not apply perfume directly on the areas that have been sprayed. The

alcohol present in perfumes can affect the spray tan results.

- Use soft facial cleansers. Avoid oily or exfoliating ones as well as brushes. Beware of

strong anti-acne products that dehydrate the skin!

- After showering, it is best to air dry as well as you can and lightly pat with a towel. Keep

your skin moisturized to prolong the life of your spray tan. You must refrain from using

scrubs or high pH soaps as these will strip away your sunless color. Your spray tan artist can recommend post-tan products and answer any questions you may have about post-tan care.
